Prior to embarking on his professional path, he pursued an education at Khyber Medical College in Peshawar, Pakistan, where he obtained a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery in 2002. He continued his academic efforts at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, earning a Master of Business Administration in business and physician leadership in 2018. Dr. Khan subsequently completed his residency in internal medicine at the Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine in 2011 and a fellowship in hematology and oncology at the University of Cincinnati in 2021.
Furthermore, Dr. Khan has been board certified in internal medicine, hematology and oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is also certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). He is also a member of the American Society of Hematology (ASH) and American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).
Dr. Khan began his vocation as a chief resident at Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine in New York, in 2011, and from 2011 to 2016, he garnered expertise as an internal medicine consultant physician at Ascension Living in Weston, Wisconsin. Between 2016 and 2018, he served as a bone marrow transplant hospitalist at the University of Iowa. In 2020-2021, he contributed to the University of Cincinnati as a research chief, and since 2021, he has built a prolific career as a hematologist, oncologist and faculty member of the internal medicine program at The Christ Hospital Network. In this capacity, he specializes in blood disorders, multiple myelomas, lymphomas, stem cell transplants, bispecific T-cell engager for solid tumors and cellular therapy. In his career related endeavors, Dr. Khan has published his research on bone marrow transplants in the Bone Marrow Transplant Journal, and has presented his research on multiple myelomas and lymphomas at conferences for the American Society of Hematology, the American Society for Transplantation and Cellular Therapy. He has also presented his research on Hepatocellular Carcinoma in HIV infected patients at the International Liver Cancer Meeting in Canada in 2009.
Well regarded for his contributions to the field, Dr. Khan has received multiple awards, including the Chief Resident award from the Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine, the ACGME Back to Bedside Grant from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, the Research Fellow Award and the Research Symposium Award for First Place in Clinical Research from the University of Cincinnati, among others. Throughout the course of his career, he is most proud of his published research, his master's degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and to have been awarded the most prestigious "Best Graduate" and "Gold Medalist" awards for five consecutive years in the history of Khyber Medical College in Peshawar, Pakistan. He attributes much of his success to his passion for helping people and to the continuous support of his parents, teachers and friends.
