CHESAPEAKE, VA, May 04, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- LaToya L. Albritton has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Having begun playing the piano at the age of six, Ms. Albritton eagerly seized upon the opportunity to join her elementary school orchestra, where she learned to play the violin. Drawing inspiration from the example of her high school orchestra teacher, Ryan Featherer, she pursued a career in music education, earning a Bachelor of Music Education from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2012. Following this period, Ms. Albritton began her career as a strings teacher with Suffolk Public Schools.
Driven to further her expertise, Ms. Albritton earned a Master of Science in psychology from Walden University in 2016. Supported by her considerable knowledge and personal experiences, she presently excels with the Suffolk Public Schools, where she teaches the violin, viola, cello and bass to middle school and high school students. In order to remain aware of ongoing changes in the field, Ms. Albritton aligns herself with several organizations, including the National Association for Music Education.
In light of her outstanding body of work, Ms. Albritton received a recognition through the Teacher Spotlight at Suffolk Public Schools, and was named Instructor of the Year in 2018 at the Jubal Arts Center in Suffolk where she also teaches piano and strings. While her career has been filled with highlights, she is most proud to have observed her students grow throughout their musical journey, many of whom have gone on to thank her profusely for her mentorship. Looking toward the future, Ms. Albritton intends to expand her music program, encourage more students to join her class and take her courses outdoors so that her students can experience the joys of playing outside the classroom.
