With over 25 years of experience in the field of financial services to his credit, Mr. Augustine serves as the founding owner of Financial Advantage LLC, for which he is also the marketing director, director of finance and corporate consultant. His consulting work has included such industries as oil and gas, agriculture, green energy, including ethanol production, wind and solar. His distinguished career has been lauded with numerous awards including, National Who's Who in Sales and Marketing, National Salesman of the Year, and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Cattlemen's Beef Association that he co-founded.
Born and raised in the rural United States, Mr. Augustine's story began with a wrestling scholarship that took him to Iowa State University, one of the nation's top wrestling schools. There, he balanced a demanding academic schedule with his athletic ambition, and was a valuable part of his wrestling team's winning the team National Collegiate Athletic Association championship during his sophomore year. Following this accomplishment, he completed two years of coursework with the initial intention of becoming a veterinarian – however the university's taxing requirements led him to seek a different path. Mr. Augustine's entrance into the beef cattle industry proved to be very fruitful; along with several other organizations he has led during his business career, including several multiple non-agricultural start-ups. The beef organization he co-founded some 40+ years ago now has grown to a membership of over 150 members.
Mr. Augustine considers his greatest achievement to be his tenure at Watkins Incorporated, for which he was the national sales and marketing director. He is credited for instituting pivotal changes to the environmental and social structures of the nearly 150 year old company, including introducing computers to both their internal employees and external sales force. These technological advances, coupled with Mr. Augustine's creating, searching for and hiring a national sales manager, helped elevate the company's sales by over 25% each year throughout the time of his association with Watkin's Incorporated.
In the years since a tragic accident induced permanent brain damage to his wife Millie, Mr. Augustine has become passionate about raising funds to support mental health care. He plans to retire in the near future to facilitate his wife's full time care, while simultaneously writing an autobiography that would detail his experience forming an organization composed of doctors from the former Soviet Union.
In accounting for his success, Mr. Augustine primarily credits the influences of Arnold Mages, his high school wrestling coach who instilled in him the values of perseverance and focus. He also attributes the influence of his mother, who overcame sexism and professional setbacks to become a renowned artist, and international judge within the floral industry. In addition, she earned the distinction of becoming the first female president of the Minnesota Horticultural Society.
