To prepare for his career, he earned a Master of Arts in international law from the University of Nancy, School of Law in France in 2003 and a Doctor of Philosophy in international law from the University of Strasbourg, School of Law in France in 2005. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship program in international law and globalization from the Center for the Study of International Law and Globalization at the Université du Québec à Montréal in Canada in 2013. Dr. Poorhashemi was also admitted as an affiliate member of the International Criminal Court Bar Association.
Dr. Poorhashemi began his career as an assistant professor of international law at the Science and Research Branch of the Islamic Azad University from 2006 to 2016. During this tenure, he likewise worked as an associate researcher at the Center for the Study of International Law and Globalization of the Université du Québec à Montréal from 2012 to 2013. Since 2015, he has been active as an international and foreign law expert witness for the Canadian Courts of Justice in Ontario and Quebec. Dr. Poorhashemi has also been appointed the president of the Canadian Institute for International Law Expertise (CIFILE) since 2017 and a consultant in international law for Family Health International since 2020.
In his present roles, Dr. Poorhashemi gives speeches, teaches and writes articles for justice, environmental protection, sustainable development and human rights. His work also focuses on the importance of public participation in global challenges. His work has greatly influenced research and development of international law and he has mentored thousands of people to become lawyers, judges, teachers and leaders in numerous countries out of his passion for teaching. Moreover, Dr. Poorhashemi is collaborating with thousands of lawyers around the world to help improve their legal businesses and professional services and show them a better way to provide legal services to their clients at national and international levels.
In addition to his primary professional efforts, Dr. Poorhashemi serves as the editor-in-chief for the CIFILE Journal of International Law. He was previously appointed as an editorial board member for the Lawinter Review. Having contributed to several professional journals, Dr. Poorhashemi also authored articles for the International Review of Law at Qatar University and the Journal of KKG Publications.
A dedicated civil advocate, Dr. Poorhashemi also has provided his expertise in international law. Therefore, the United Nations Expert Database has included his name on the list of experts. He has been also a member of World Commission on Environmental Law at the International Union for Conservation of Nature since 2019. He has further operated as a member of the judging committee for the National Conference on World Environment Day and as a member of the scientific committee for the National Conference of Geography, Planning and Sustainable Development.
