Drawing on over four decades of expertise, Mr. Mayo enjoyed a fulfilling career as both a director of human resources and of organizational development. Prior to embarking on his professional journey, he pursued an education at Pace University in New York, where he obtained a bachelor's degree in finance in 1961, and a Master of Business Administration in executive management in 1978. As a commitment to his field, Mr. Mayo was active with several industry-related organizations, including the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), the Association for Systems Management, the American Management Association, the Planned Giving Advisory Committees for Pace University and St. Luke's Episcopal Church, the Society for Human Resource Management and as chairman of the North Bergen Planning Board, among others.
Mr. Mayo began his vocation at S&H Green Stamps and later contributed to the International Paper Company, where he was instrumental in increasing productivity and profitability by $90 million, and an added $81 million in profitability over a 10-year period. Likewise, he directed a $10 million program at Merrill Lynch to improve and stabilize processes for the senior management of the corporation. Mr. Mayo was a senior consultant in the Arthur Young (now Ernst & Young) management consulting practice and later served as the owner of his personal consulting firm. He was active as a local representative at Stanford Research Institute (SRI International), as well as a visiting professor, chairman and guest speaker at various professional and academic organizations and universities. From 2000 to 2015, he built a prolific career as the director of human resources and as director of organizational development at Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission. A lifelong Mensan, he attributes much of his success to his ability to recognize and pursue advantageous opportunities, and to the mentorship of Edward J. Mortola, who served as the president of Pace University.
