An expert in pediatric pharmacotherapy, Dr. Waller has been a dedicated pharmacist for more than 14 years. To prepare for her career, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of Alabama in 2004 and a Doctor of Pharmacy from Auburn University in 2008. She completed a PGY1 residency program in Pharmacy Practice with Regional One Health Medical Center in 2009 and a PGY2 residency in Pediatric Pharmacy at St. Louis Children's Hospital in 2010. Licensed in Alabama and Tennessee, she is board certified in pediatric pharmacotherapy and as a pharmacotherapy specialist.
Dr. Waller has excelled as a pharmacist at the neonatal intensive care unit (ICU) at USA Health Children's and Women's Hospital since 2010. In this capacity, she works collaboratively with the neonatal ICU nurses and physicians to troubleshoot medical issues or answer any inquiries. She receives and processes medication requests while also reviewing the total parenteral nutrition plans for infants, children, adolescents and adult female patients. In addition to her primary responsibilities, Dr. Waller has been recruited to the Antibiotic Stewardship Committee and Information Technology Committee, among other committees at the hospital.
Dr. Waller is also a member of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy and previously a member of the Pediatric Pharmacy Advocacy Group and the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. Passionate about working in the pediatric field, she decided upon neonatology as her specialty out of a desire to help the most vulnerable patient populations. Looking to the future, Dr. Waller's goal is to take on a bigger role in mentoring students and teaching new pharmacists.
