Mr. Maurin formerly found success for 22 years as a winemaker for Château Margaux in France, an internationally renowned winegrowing estate that dates to the 16th century. He also worked for two years as a mitigation manager for the aforementioned organization. Among other roles, he was a consultant for a wine bar in Bordeaux, France, an experience that became instrumental in how he approaches the art of wine tasting today. Aside from his winemaking interests, Mr. Maurin notably played soccer on the Girondin De Bordeaux team, a professional football club.
An alumnus of Saint Joseph de Tivoli in France, Mr. Maurin graduated with a bachelor's degree in economics in 1983. Well-qualified in his field, he became a certified professional winetaster under the tutelage of Denis Dubourdieu, the director of the Oenological Institute of Bordeaux and a worldwide consultant in the field.
