A dedicated civic advocate, Mr. Ferris serves on the broadcast journalism advisory board for a local high school. He has also conducted numerous presentations and educational sessions as a guest facilitator for the Boy Scouts of America, helping members earn Public Speaking Merit Badges. Fortunate to be introduced to broadcast journalism while still in high school, Mr. Ferris went on to earn a bachelor's degree, followed by a master's degree at Auburn University. Grateful to the many teachers, mentors, and internship coordinators for their guidance, he developed an indelible passion and work ethic that he was able to demonstrate in the field for many years.
Highlighting his achievements, Mr. Ferris was the recipient of four International Media Festival Awards in recognition of video production-based work in a live news show, a documentary and comedy programs. He also received an Undergraduate Teaching Excellence Award from Auburn University. Additionally, the Associated Press of Alabama named Mr. Ferris as their Student Sports Anchor of the Year in 2006.
