She continued her academic efforts at the Rutgers University School of Health Professions in Newark, New Jersey, graduating with a Master of Science in clinical laboratory science in 2018. Moreover, she has accrued a lean six sigma green belt certification from the Institute of Industrial Systems Engineers in the manufacturing and design division. Ms. Ford has been additionally active with several industry-related organizations, including the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science and the American Society for Clinical Pathology, through which she earned her Florida clinical laboratory supervisor license and a medical laboratory scientist certification.
Ms. Ford began her career as a laboratory scientist at Sacred Heart Hospital from 2010 to 2011. Between 2011 and 2018, she garnered expertise as a medical laboratory scientist at various medical institutions, including the Gulf Breeze Hospital Laboratory, the Sacred Heart Medical Group Pace Urgent Care and Pediatric Clinic and the Baptist Hospital Laboratory. Since 2018, she has found much success as a regional laboratory quality manager at the Ascension Medical Group while concurrently serving as an adjunct professor and a research assistant to Dr. Behan at the University of West Florida as of 2016. In her capacity as a manager, Ms. Ford is responsible for clinical assessment and improvements of processes, collection of specimens, processing results, operations management and quality control.
Esteemed for her contributions to the field, Ms. Ford has received multiple accolades, including the Key to the Future Award and the 40 Voices under 40 Award from the American Society of Clinical Laboratory Science, the Pensacola Independent News Rising Star Award, the University of West Florida Outstanding Young Alumnus Award and inclusion with the Marquis Who's Who in America. Among her professional accomplishments, she is incredibly proud of establishing a drive-thru COVID-19 testing site in the state of Florida, which has serviced over 80,000 patients in two years, and of the convalescent plasma project, which was essential in finding positive patients to donate plasma for the extraction of COVID-19 antibodies. She attributes much of her success to her motivation and dedication to helping people, as well as to her mother, who as a single mother and a nurse inspired her to pursue her vocation. Looking toward the future, Ms. Ford aspires to expand the scope of her career and hopes to advance to the post of a director of clinical excellence at the Ascension Medical Group.
