Drawing on over five decades of proficiency, Mr. Price serves as an expert in education and public service. Prior to embarking on his professional journey, he pursued an education at the University of West Alabama, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in education in 1964. He continued his academic efforts at the University of West Georgia, earning a Master of Education in 1969. Mr. Price subsequently concluded his scholarly endeavors at the University of Georgia, attaining a Specialist in Education degree in school administration in 1977. As a commitment to his field, Mr. Price has been active with several industry-related organizations, including the Local Civic Organization, the Cobb County Municipal Association and the State Municipal Association.
Mr. Price began his vocation as a teacher in the Cobb County Georgia school system from 1964 to 1973, while concurrently serving as an elementary level coordinator for Career Education, a federally funded program, between 1970 and 1973. From 1974 until 1996, he garnered expertise in local school administration as an assistant principal, the principal of Powder Springs Elementary School and the principal of Acworth Elementary School, after which he retired from his career in education in 1996.
Since 1995, Mr. Price has found much success as an Acworth city councilman, during which time he worked as the mayor pro tem for more than a decade. In this capacity, he is responsible for town hall meetings with his constituents regarding various issues, and the representation of assigned city departments, including the department of administration, parks and recreation, power and public works, community development and law enforcement.
Mr. Price has dedicated nearly 60 years to the field of public service, proudly serving by his motto: "children and citizens do not remember what you taught them, but they remember all their life how you treated them." Among his professional accomplishments, he is most proud of his contributions as a school principal, a consultant for Career Education, and as an alderman and mayor pro tem for the City of Acworth, through which capacity he achieved significant milestones in reviving the city, saving the lakes, redeveloping blighted areas and establishing a vibrant quality of life. Mr. Price attributes much of his success to his personality, patience, kindness, attentiveness and respect for every person.
