BIRMINGHAM, AL, May 10, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Graeme B. Bolger, MD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Bolger celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
After more than two decades in academia and research, Dr. Bolger retired from the classroom and started his own research and development business, BZI Pharma LLC, in Birmingham, Alabama, in 2015. Focusing on the pharmaceutical industry, particularly for cancer and neuroscience, much of Dr. Bolger's work concentrates on the development of appropriate biotechnologies that can be used in drug discovery.
Dr. Bolger notably began his career as an assistant professor at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City in 1994 where he taught various courses and focused on research and patient care in hematology-oncology. He was subsequently promoted to associate professor in 2000 where he taught and conducted research and clinical trials in drug discovery related to cancer, inflammation and neuroscience. Dr. Bolger was then acquired by Oncology Analytics, Inc. in Plantation, Florida, as the medical director between 2015 and 2020 where he specialized in the utilization management of oncology pharmaceuticals and sophisticated cancer-related molecular testing.
Among Dr. Bolger's most notable research achievements was the successful isolation of a family of enzymes that have been used in drug discovery, which then led to the development of three commercially available drugs. Looking toward the future, Dr. Bolger aims to develop numerous assays that can be used for molecular drug discovery with the use of proprietary technology.
Dr. Bolger has notably received numerous grants throughout the years from the National Institutes of Health to support his research. He has also disseminated much of his findings in over 70 scholarly articles in widely recognized medical journals since 1981.
Dr. Bolger studied in his native country of Canada where he received a Bachelor of Science in molecular, cellular and developmental biology at McGill University in 1977 and a Doctor of Medicine in 1981. He then completed his residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore between 1981 and 1984, followed by fellowships at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in New York and the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York between 1984 and 1992. Dr. Bolger is board-certified in internal medicine and medical oncology.
