As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Prior to embarking upon his career, Mr. White served honorably in the United States Army. While in the service, he was bestowed with a commendation for his service with the 82nd Airborne Division. Likewise, Mr. White received certifications for the completion of chemical school in NBC Warfare Training and for completing seminars in Iraq and Iran.
Following the conclusion of his service, Mr. White earned a Bachelor of Science in animal science and agriculture from the University of Maryland and went on to attain a Master of Education in administration from Western Maryland College. He began his career as an agriculture research technician for the U.S. Department of Agriculture in 1965 and subsequently worked as a senior research technician for Flow Laboratories Inc. starting in 1967. In 1976, he became a research associate for the biological carcinogenesis program at Litton Bionetics Inc., until he began a position as a senior manager for the electron microscopy laboratory for Program Resources Inc., in 1982. Following this period, Mr. White maintained involvement as a scientific program administrator for the National Cancer Institute, from which he retired after 30 years.
While active at the National Cancer Institute, Mr. White oversaw daily operations at the laboratory of molecular technology, including hiring, addressing safety issues, research and development, and scientific program administration. During the course of his career, he wrote numerous publications on cancer viruses, with his first paper published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America.
Outside of his primary career endeavors, Mr. White has served as a ski instructor for Whitetail Mountain Resort of Vail Resorts Inc. since 1999. For his accomplishments in this capacity, he has been recognized as the Whitetail Instructor of the Year, and has earned other honors, such as the Whitetail Most Hours of Instruction Award and the Whitetail Passport Award.
