An accomplished opera singer, pianist and music teacher with a proven record of accomplishment in the fields of musical performance and education, Ms. Malaszczyk excels today as a K-6 music and chorus teacher for New Hyde Park-Garden City Park Union Free School District. Additionally, she serves as a music director for the Diocese of Rockville Centre. In this capacity, Ms. Malaszczyk selects and performs music for weekly masses on campus at both Hofstra and Adelphi University based on the liturgical calendar.
During an earlier stage of her career, Ms. Malaszczyk gained valuable expertise in the field as a soprano section leader for the First Presbyterian Church of Freeport, a voice, piano and musical theater teacher for the Music Academy of Garden City, a voice and piano teacher for Church Street School for Music and Art, and a music teacher for Success Academy Charter Schools. To remain aware of developments affecting her field, Ms. Malaszczyk is affiliated with the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society at Bucknell University, the Golden Key International Honor Society and Kappa Alpha Theta, where she served as chief recruitment officer in 2014.
An expert in her field, Ms. Malaszczyk holds a bachelor's degree in vocal performance, cum laude, from Bucknell University and a Master of Arts in vocal performance and opera from Hunter College, which is part of the City University of New York. To commemorate her accomplishments, she won an Excellence Award through the Success Academy, became a Vincenza Ancona Vocalist and performed with the Hunter College Symphony Orchestra, a privilege earned after winning a concerto competition. Known for her contributions as a civic-minded citizen, Ms. Malaszczyk served as a committee chair for the Special Olympics of Pennsylvania from 2013 to 2015.
Although her career has been filled with distinctive moments, Ms. Malaszczyk is most proud of receiving the Excellence Award from the Success Academy for the work she accomplished during virtual education amid the COVID-19 pandemic. With limited resources, she was able to establish an online music curriculum for herself and other teachers. Looking toward the future, Ms. Malaszczyk intends to stay in the classroom and further her education by pursuing a doctoral degree, which will enhance her skills as a teacher.
