As a tenured music teacher since 1991, Ms. Sizer was appointed as the director of music, chairperson of fine arts and performing arts, and a curriculum coordinator for three different schools in New Jersey. She likewise served as a music teacher for the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. Ms. Sizer has been additionally active as a teacher of music for the public elementary schools at Lakewood School District in Lakewood, New Jersey, since 1997.
As an extension of her work in music, Ms. Sizer is currently involved in local musical theater in Red Bank, New Jersey. A freelance artist and musician, she previously worked for several years as the director of the afterschool art program for the Upstairs Youth Agency in Rochester, New York and as the music director for the Peninsula Opera Rep. Co. in Rumson, New Jersey.
Ms. Sizer has thrived as a minister of music and organist for the Church of Saint Andrew by the Sea since 2008. She has also been recruited as the director of music for Christ Church United Methodist since 1997. To support her career, Ms. Sizer is a member of the American Psychological Association, the American Counseling Association, the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, the National Association for Music Education and the Local 399 Musicians Union.
Ms. Sizer earned a Bachelor of Arts at Mount Holyoke College in 1980, followed by coursework in art history and ethics at Harvard University. She then transferred to Rochester Institute of Technology, from which she obtained a Master of Fine Arts in 1983. Years later, Ms. Sizer graduated with a Master of Science in mental health counseling at Monmouth University in 2017.
Additional educational pursuits to Ms. Sizer's credit include a postgraduate degree from Westminster Choir College at the Eastman School of Music, an Education Specialist degree in educational leadership and administration at Seton Hall University in 2005 and an internship with Booker Behavioral Health Addiction Recovery Services at Riverview Hospital in 2016.She is a certified teacher of music and art for grades K-12 in the state of New Jersey, a certified clinical trauma professional, certified in dialectical behavior therapy, a certified clinical mental health counselor, a nationally certified counselor, licensed clinical alcohol and drug counselor and licensed professional counselor. Ms. Sizer notably secured a Joseph A. Skinner fellowship in 1981 and a Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation fellowship in 1993.
