To prepare for his law career, he earned a Bachelor of Science in political science from SUNY Oneonta in 1979 and a Juris Doctor from the Fordham University School of Law in 1982. Mr. Chechanover was admitted to practice by the New York State Bar Association in the same year.
Mr. Chechanover began his career as an associate for Ferris, Adams and Creidy in 1983 and became a law assistant for the Civil Court for the City of New York the next year. He subsequently working as an attorney for Horing and Welikson in 1986 and a partner with Cascione, Chechanover and Purcigliotti in 1990. From 1995 to 2016, he excelled as a founding partner of Rosado, Chechanover, Apat and Dudley LLP. Since 2016, he has found success with Klee, Woolf, Goldman and Filpi LLP. At the same time, Mr. Chechanover has been active as the director of the Injured Workers' Bar Association since 1997.
To give his expertise back to his community, Mr. Chechanover works with the National Organization of Social Security Claimant's Representatives, serving on the board of directors. In recognition of his stellar work, he received certificates of appreciation for conducting lectures at the New York State Bar Association and New York State Chiropractors' Association. He is also a member of the Workers' Compensation Committees of the New York State Bar Association, the Queens County Bar Association and the Nassau County Bar Association. Mr. Chechanover was also formerly appointed as the secretary for the Society of New York Workers' Compensation Bar Association.
Mr. Chechanover was inspired to become a lawyer by his father, who also practiced as a lawyer. When he retired, he took his place as a partner in their law firm before deciding to establish his own practice five years later. Having spent his career operating with honesty, integrity and genuine care for his clients, Mr. Chechanover plans to retire in the coming years.
