Since 2019, Ms. Johnson has served on behalf of the faculty staff of Albany Technical College, where she works as an instructor of industrial electrical and electrical construction courses. Located in Albany, Georgia, the public university is a constituent institution of the Technical College System of Georgia and currently offers over 100 different degrees and certifications.
Bringing practical experience to the classroom, Ms. Johnson teaches the importance of safety in the field of electrical maintenance. Additionally, she is responsible for caring for sensitive equipment while leading students through their training. Looking toward a future in education, Ms. Johnson hopes to continue teaching and achieve accreditation for her programs, which would confer her students with the ability to acquire apprenticeships for the completion of their schooling.
Prior to becoming a teacher, Ms. Johnson spent five years in the U.S. Navy, followed by three years working at a shipyard in Virginia as an industrial electrician. She subsequently found success at the U.S. Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany performing electrical projects. Outside of her fieldwork, Ms. Johnson maintained involvement as the owner and operator of her own home-based bakery.
Ms. Johnson earned an associate degree in electronics engineering technology from East Coast Polytechnic Institute in 2013. She also studied at Albany Tech, where she was nominated for the Goal Student Award by one of her teachers for her determination and quick mastery in the field. Ms. Johnson attributes her success in the industry to her adaptability and willingness to accept constructive criticism.
