TUCSON, AZ, May 23, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Joel S. Strabala, MBA, RIA, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Drawing inspiration from the example of John Glenn, the first American astronaut to orbit the Earth, Mr. Strabala graduated from the US Air Force Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Astronautical Engineering, and completed US Air Force pilot training at Williams AFB, AZ. Mr. Strabala was trained as an F-4G Wild Weasel pilot for the 37th Tactical Fighter Wing, George AFB, CA and then 52nd Tactical Fighter Wing, Spangdahlem AB, Germany. Mr. Strabala also served as an air liaison officer for the 601st Air Support Operations Group in Frankfurt, Germany. Reassigned to the 4th Tactical Fighter Wing, Seymour Johnson AFB, NC, Mr. Strabala was a pilot, flight commander, and an instructor pilot in the F-4E Phantom II and then the F-15E Strike Eagle aircraft. During Operation Desert Storm, Mr. Strabala supported US Central Command as an F-15E mission planner and completed over twenty combat missions in the F-15E over Iraq. Mr. Strabala retired from the USAF in late 1992 with the final rank of Major.
Though he was never selected to become an astronaut, Mr. Strabala channeled his love of aviation into an aerospace engineering career. Between 1992 and 2022, Mr. Strabala developed and honed his aerospace engineering expertise in a wide range of positions, including software engineer, systems engineer, aircraft integration engineer, weapon system integration engineer, integrated product team lead, section manager, department manager, program manager, and chief engineer with such companies as TRW Corporation and Raytheon Technologies Corporation.
Mr. Strabala's notable accomplishments at Raytheon Missiles and Defense include: lead platform integration engineer for the US Navy's AIM-9X sidewinder missile program, primary author of the initial version Platform Store Interface Control Document (PSICD) for the USAF's Universal Armament Interface (UAI) program; program manager and chief engineer for the US Army's AIM-9X/IFPC Surface Launch program; and is finally as the chief engineer for the US Marine Corps Ground Based Anti-Ship Missile (GBASM) program.
Dedicated to furthering his knowledge of aerospace engineering, Mr. Strabala earned a Master of Business Administration from Golden Gate University and completed coursework toward a master's degree in management information systems at Mercer University. In order to stay abreast of industry changes, he aligns himself with the International Council on Systems Engineer, the Red River Valley Fighter Pilots Association and the Society of Wild Weasels. In light of his outstanding body of work, he has been honored on many occasions, earning Air Force Achievement, Commendation, and Meritorious Service Medals, the 601st ASOG Junior Officer of the Year Award, the 4th Tactical Fighter Wing Flight Commander of the Year. Outside of his achievements in the military, he was named as a, Company Top Performer by TRW Corporation, Principal Software Engineer with Honors, and later as a Senior Principal Systems Engineer with Honors by Raytheon Missiles and Defense. Looking toward the future, Mr. Strabala aims to retire from Raytheon and work as a registered investment adviser for Transamerica Financial Advisors, Inc., with the objective of helping clients achieve financial independence.
