Joanne Calcagno Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Education

Ms. Calcagno retired from P.S. 214 after many years to pursue a love of writing

COLLEGE POINT, NY, May 24, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Joanne Calcagno has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Upon completing coursework through the Bank Street College of Education, Ms. Calcagno earned a master's degree in elementary education through Queens College. Following this accomplishment, she worked as a teacher for P.S. 214 in Queens, New York, before retiring to pursue her passion for writing. Over the course of her career, she has released a number of books, including "Rewind Fast Forward: A Practical Guide of The Transgender Student for Teachers," "Finally an Answer and Beyond the Next Chapter" and "Being Bulled Finding Friendship: A Boy's Quest for Hope." She is working on her latest book entitled "Job Discrimination in the Workplace."

In order to remain aware of ongoing changes in the field, Ms. Calcagno has aligned herself with the Association of University Women, the National Organization of Women and the National Association of Professional Women. Additionally, she devotes herself to the Women's History Museum, the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, the National Museum of African American History and Culture, and the Kennedy Center. Throughout the course of her career, Ms. Calcagno has achieved much, including her appearance as a guest on Ashford Radio, featuring in teaching magazines due to the creative classrooms she pioneered, and singing and playing piano in theater productions.

While her career has been filled with highlights, Ms. Calcagno is most proud to have witnessed the academic and social development of her students. Likewise, she feels immense gratitude for the praise she has received from her current and former pupils. Looking toward the future, Ms. Calcagno aims to complete various fiction, nonfiction and children's books, as well as receive an honor from the Natural History Museum as a chartered member.
