Having spent the majority of her career as a travel agent in Philadelphia, Kansas, and Missouri, Ms. Hepford bore a considerable passion for her work.

Though she retired in 2001 after more than 35 years in the travel industry, Ms. Hepford continued to work for over 15 years with the Internal Revenue Service. Having begun her career in 1957, she was initially hired by Pan American Airway as a secretary in the international air carrier's sales office. Ms. Hepford subsequently worked in the reservations department before being promoted to a supervisor position overseeing travel agent reservations. Upon leaving the organization, Ms. Hepford transitioned into the role of a travel agent for Sigmund Travel, an agency that was founded in 1892.
Having spent the majority of her career as a travel agent in Philadelphia, Kansas, and Missouri, Ms. Hepford bore a considerable passion for her work. In addition to her full-time profession, she also notably taught a travel program as an instructor at Metropolitan Community College in Maple Woods, Kansas, for more than five years under the auspices of the Institute of Certified Travel Agents.
Outside of her paid positions, Ms. Hepford has enjoyed contributing to her local community. As part of her established commitment to civic endeavors, she served as a volunteer parent on behalf of the Girl Scouts of the USA and the Boy Scouts of America. Ms. Hepford also lent her expertise as an English tutor to students requiring additional assistance. Ms. Hepford is presently a member of the American Association of Retired Persons.
Ms. Hepford graduated from Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls in Philadelphia in 1956 as the ninety seventh in her graduating class of 1,056. She also earned a Bachelor of Arts in English, with honors, at Washburn University in 1991, and received certification from the Institute of Certified Travel Agents as a travel counselor in 1985. Honoring her subsequent achievements in the industry, Ms. Hepford was named as the Travel Agent of the Year by the Institute of Certified Travel Agents in 1996.
