Since her youth, Ms. Gish has been working with various artistic expressions, including pastels, watercolors, acrylics, clay and oils. At 13 years old, she became the youngest student chosen by the local congregational church to attend a three-week art class sponsored by the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana and housed at Allerton Park. After attending various educational institutes ending in 1988, she decided to pursue her passion for the arts, despite many telling her that no one makes a living as an artist. Ms. Gish believes it is not about the money, but the ability to express herself.
Ms. Gish excels presently as the owner of Captive Image 1, where she exhibits her fine art, in addition to featuring guest artists. She has been honored many times through early years, earning several awards from the mayor and Best of Show Awards. Recently she won her first Best of Show fine art juried show in nearly two decades and it has been the highlight of her career. Looking toward the future, Ms. Gish intends to attain a level of success where she no longer has to work for someone else as she aims to become self-sufficient.
