During her formative years in New Mexico, Mrs. Kiggundu-Carngbe was an accomplished high school athlete having received honors like a feature in Sports Illustrated Magazine as a "Faces in the Crowd". She was a Mizuno High School All American, All District, All State, and was part of a high school volleyball program that won the coveted State Championship title 4 times.

Her passion for the sport spurred the launch of New Mexico Cactus Volleyball Club in 2008, after she retired from a storied volleyball career. Her goal was to inspire future athletes to achieve and to be their best and was quoted as saying "It's simply my way of giving back to my community. I love the game of volleyball, and it is the least I can do to impact our youth," she told a proud parent of one of her seniors.
As the President, Club Director and Master Coach of the club, she aims to deliver equal opportunities to every young athlete, regardless of their socio-economic status, by helping them bridge the gap to higher level competition and training. The club trains 12 teams every season, with players ranging from ages 8-18 years old and they offer local, regional and national levels. To date her club has helped 22 athletes obtain collegiate volleyball scholarships to obtain higher level education and to play at the next level. Several of the athletes she has helped to get recruited to play college volleyball have earned college degrees and have also returned to NM Cactus to be a part of the coaching staff, to continue the cycle of giving back to the youth in the community. In the near future, Mrs. Kiggundu-Carngbe's ultimate goal is to elevate the New Mexico Cactus Volleyball Club as one of the premier and most esteemed clubs in their region.

Kiggundu, whom is the former Chairman of Electoral Commission of Uganda, and Nulu K. Kiggundu, best known for being crowned Miss Uganda in 1972. Last but not least, she credits her very close knit family; husband, Isaac J. Carngbe, siblings, Jammy M. Kiggundu, Sarah Kiggundu-Decicco, and Namuli J. Kiggundu-Yalley for her continued success and endless support.
