FORT SMITH, AR, May 31, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Louay Nassri has been included in Marquis Who's Who. After finishing his undergraduate studies, Dr. Nassri obtained a Doctor of Medicine degree from Damascus University in Damascus Syria. He completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Huron Road Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. He subsequently pursued a pediatric residency at Charity Hospital of Louisiana on the Tulane University Division, and a pediatric pulmonology fellowship at Tulane University's School of Medicine. During the early years of his career, Dr. Nassri was appointed as an assistant professor, then an associate professor in the department of pediatrics at his alma mater, Damascus University.
Over the years, Dr. Nassri gained valuable expertise in private practice in Syria and Arkansas as a pediatric pulmonologist working at Holt Krock and Sparks Clinics. Backed by his considerable expertise, he gave numerous national lectures on different pediatric pulmonary topics. Furthermore, he has conducted clinical research with such institutions as Johns Hopkins University, Genetech, Merck, GSK and Novartis. He penned articles for publications, including Chronic Cough in Children, Respiratory Emergencies in Childhood, Churg Straus Syndrome and Bronchiolitis in Infancy.
As the Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at the Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine, ARCOM, he designed the syllabi for third- and fourth-year pediatric students, presented lectures on a wide range of topics, including general pediatrics and pediatric pulmonary disease, specifically asthma and cystic fibrosis, and was active in a variety of administrative duties.
In order to remain up to date in the field of medicine, Dr. Nassri attended numerous national medical meetings, he is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics AAP, the American Thoracic Society ATS, and the American College of Chest Physicians ACCP. He was the Governor of Arkansas for the ACCP for 6 years. Alongside his primary responsibilities, he has been very involved in the community. He was the President of the Fort Smith, AR Muslim Community and the Vice Chair of the Fort Smith Interfaith Committee.
For his outstanding body of work, Dr. Nassri has been honored many times. In addition to becoming the first pediatric pulmonologist in Syria, and the Secretary General of the Syrian Pediatric Society, he was presented with a Best Intern Award at the Huron Road Hospital, He was included among the Top 10 Doctors in Arkansas, and the Top 10 Doctors in America. He was recognized as a Leading Physician of the World by the International Association of Healthcare Professionals. He is incredibly proud of establishing an International Student and Faculty Exchange Program between ARCOM and Medipol University in Istanbul and Ankara, Turkey.
Although his career has been filled with highlights on a scientific level, on a personal level, he has been most rewarded by adopting his two children from Damascus, Syria.
