Doctor Menard is a first generation college recipient and first higher education faculty member in her family transitioning from K-12 to higher education in 2019. Doctor Menard has taught at Northwestern State University in Louisiana (2012-2018), the female campus of Prince Mohammad bin Fad University in Saudi Arabia (2014), and Grand Canyon University (2019-present), a private Christian university in Phoenix, Arizona. Teaching several courses in early childhood and special education since 2019, she thoroughly enjoys the opportunity to teach and give back to future teachers. Before COVID, Doctor Menard dedicated time to volunteering at the Catholic Church on the local university campus.
Prior to joining Grand Canyon University, Doctor Menard was an adjunct instructor of special education at Northwestern State University in Louisiana. She also worked for four years with a local K-12 school district where she served as the special education programs supervisor. Additionally, she garnered experience teaching for the Lafayette Parish School system.
An expert in the administration of exceptionality, Dr. Menard attributes her success to her love for reading and research. In her spare time, she is a Google local guide with over 5 million photo views and enjoys cultivating roses. Doctor Menard maintains a strong interest in effective instruction for students with disabilities. Looking ahead, Dr. Menard hopes to teach several additional online courses because she is grateful for the flexibility that the university has provided her.
As an extension of her work, Doctor Menard has contributed close to 40 published papers. She has also authored a chapter in the book, titled "Handbook of Research on Critical Issues in Special Education for School Rehabilitation Practices." The chapter was titled 'Personalizing Learning Targets with Technology-based Assessment.' Doctor Menard has presented several times in her field as well, and aims to continue writing and presenting at technology conferences in the coming years. Her most recent research proceeding publication was in 2022, "Integrating Engineering and Math Content in K-2 Instruction."
