For nearly 20 years, he has supported engineering teams in the design and optimization of oilfield equipment for drilling and measurement, as well as the completion and production of equipment for onshore and offshore applications. Likewise, he has provided technical course training to engineers. During an earlier stage of his career, Dr. Song gained valuable expertise as the senior engineer of Smith Drilling Tools and Remedy at Schlumberger and as an engineer in research and development at Smith International, where he conducted CFD analysis on turbine systems.
In light of his vast breadth of knowledge, Dr. Song has contributed a number of articles to various publications, including "Positive Displacement Motor Modeling: Skyrocketing the Way We Design, Select and Operate Mud Motor," "A Wall-Modified Flamelet Model for Diesel Combustion," "Influence of Wall Impingement on the Structure of Reacting Jets" and "Soot Distribution in a Reacting Wall-Impinging Jet." An expert in his field, he holds a bachelor's degree and master's degree from Tsinghua University, as well as a Doctor of Philosophy in mechanical engineering from Purdue University.
For his professional achievements, Dr. Song has been honored on several occasions, earning the Henry Doll Prize for Innovation from Schlumberger. While his career has been filled with highlights, he is most proud to have joined the staff of a prominent oil and gas company shortly after graduating from his doctorate. While active with Smith International, he developed hydraulic products and proposed a line involving hydraulic configuration to use down the drill bit, which increased efficiency by 30 percent. Looking toward the future, Dr. Song aspires to develop new technologies with Schlumberger.
