In order to escape war in his home country of Cambodia, he fled to a refugee camp in Thailand, where he stayed for six months before he was sponsored by an American family and relocated to the United States. Having suffered from childhood illnesses, he decided to enter the field of health care.
After receiving his undergraduate education at Tufts University, he went to receive his D.C. from Palmer College of Chiropractic West in San Jose, California. He obtained his medical degree from St. Matthew's University in San Pedro, Belize. He completed his family medicine residency at the Greenville Hospital System in Greenville, South Carolina. During his third year of residency, he served as Chief Resident. He was awarded the Resident of the Year 2006 by the South Carolina Academy of Family Physicians. He completed his sports medicine fellowship at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia. During his sports medicine fellowship, he served as Team Physician for Albany State University and several local high schools. He also worked professionally with the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Falcons, WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment), and AVP (Association of Volleyball Professionals).
As an avid sports enthusiast, he was encouraged to further specialize in sports medicine. He was also bestowed with certificate of added qualification in sports medicine. Professionally, he worked as the owner of Total Health Center offering chiropractic, acupuncture, family medicine, and sports medicine. He was medical director at Northwest Florida Community Hospital and Washington Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Supported by his considerable expertise, Dr. Taing presently excels as a family medicine and sports medicine physician with the Millennium Physician Group.
Driven to remain aware of changes in the field, Dr. Taing aligns himself with the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Florida Academy of Family Physicians, the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and the American Medical Directors Association, to name only a few. In 2006, he also dedicated himself to those less fortunate as a volunteer physician on a medical mission trip to Haiti. Due to his outstanding body of work, he has been honored on numerous occasions, earning a Team Physician Award through Albany State University, a South Carolina Family Medicine Resident of the Year Award through the South Carolina Academy of Family Physicians and the America's Top Family Doctors Award through the Consumer's Research Council of America.
In a career that has been filled with highlights, Dr. Taing is most proud to have received numerous client referrals in a short period of time and to have such a loving and supportive family - his beautiful wife Marlene and their two children, Matthew and Thomas.
