For more than 15 years, Ms. Ruedy thrived as the owner of Link Coulee Tack & Saddlery, which provided a vast selection of saddles, stirrups, reins and other equipment or accessories associated with horseback riding. Prior to her retirement in 2012, she focused on helping horseback riders select the most appropriate saddles for their individual needs. In addition to overseeing the daily operations of the largest saddle shop in her community, Ms. Ruedy owned more than 30 horses throughout her professional career.
Alongside her primary responsibilities with Link Coulee Tack & Saddlery, Ms. Ruedy simultaneously garnered widespread acclaim as a prolific poet. She released her first poetry book during the 1990s and has since been celebrated with a host of accolades such as The Ernest J. Gaines Award for Literary Excellence on behalf of the National Author's Registry. Between 1997 and 1998, Ms. Ruedy was additionally honored with multiple awards on behalf of the International Society of Poetry.
In recognition of her exceptional prose, Ms. Ruedy has been inducted in the International Society of Poets' Hall of Fame and has received more than 15 Editors' Choice Awards on behalf of the National Library of Poetry. She attributes a great deal of her success with Link Coulee Tack & Saddlery to her unique ability to match different types of saddles with a broad range of personalities and lifestyles. Since her retirement, Ms. Ruedy has continued to maintain her affiliation with the International Society of Poets, which designated her as a distinguished member in 1998.
