Now retired, Ms. Henderson distinguished herself as the co-founder and director of employment for Jackets for Jobs LLC. Established with her daughter, Alison Vaughn, as her partner in 2000, the nonprofit organization is headquartered in Detroit and maintains a mission to provide career training and etiquette in the workplace skills to the underserved community, as well as provide necessary business attire during job searches.

As her organization grew, Jackets for Jobs transitioned from servicing women in a small room at a local Baptist church to also serving men and teenagers at two different private facilities in the city of Detroit. The overwhelming success of Ms. Henderson's nonprofit also expanded overseas into Botswana.
Outside of training individuals, Ms. Henderson often dressed her candidates. She was also responsible for hiring and training staff members, facilitating meetings and overseeing clothing donations from area citizens and the clothing store, TJ Maxx, which has served as a major sponsor for more than 10 years. Presently, Ms. Henderson's daughter oversees all operations as the organization's executive director.
Deeply involved in her local community, Ms. Henderson is active as a member of the Red Hat Society and the Charles H. Wright Museum. She is also a lifetime member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. Ms. Henderson previously served over 30 years as the president of the Altar Circle and functioned as a founding sponsor for the Martin Luther King National Memorial Project, a curriculum coordinator for her local vacation bible school and as the founding president of the Women's Christian Fellowship, among many other roles.
During Ms. Henderson's tenure with her organization, she notably appeared on "The View" and "The Today Show with Al Roker." She also had the opportunity to ring the closing bell for the NASDAQ in New York City, which was seen on CNN. Ms. Henderson's daughter has also been honored several times with various awards for her contributions as well and, in 2021, Jackets for Jobs LLC was recognized as one of the Best and Brightest Companies to Work For in the Nation by Crain's Business.
An alumnus of Wayne State University, Ms. Henderson graduated with a Bachelor of Science in marketing and business administration. To remain aware of developments in her field, she has distinguished herself as a professional member of the Association of Image Consultants International.
