After obtaining a Pharmacy Technician certification, with honors, from Vatterott College, Ms. Fry completed 2 courses at Metropolitan Community College. Miss Cherie Fry is a Certified Pet Loss Professional (CPLP), having successfully completed the required training class in pet-related death care services. Furthermore, she is also a Certified Pet Loss Grief Companion, one of 16 charter professionals in the U.S. completing numerous hours of pet grief education training. She is also a Certified Cremation Specialist, completing training in both human and pet cremations. Lastly, Ms. Fry is also an ordained minister and animal chaplain. Learning of the traditional death care process which she found to be incredibly disrespectful and lacking dignity for her pet Chadz (shades) and for herself, Ms. Fry made the vow to change the death care process, ensuring pets and their families were handled with Love, Respect and Dignity. In 2010, Ms. Fry founded Paws to Angels Pet Loss Center & Services, Nebraska's first and only total end-of-life care center for pets and their families. In 2012 Ms. Fry opened the doors. The organization pioneered in home euthanasia, the State of Nebraska's first ever and true pet funeral home offering preplanning, memorialization, private cremation, burials, visitations and funerals, as well as grief support. In 2013 Cherie helped open and found the state's first pet ossuary in a human cemetery, Pets at Peace Gardens. In 2014, Mr. Fry pioneered In Home Pet Hospice. Paws to Angels is a pet loss center offering every stage of service for pet parents and their pets. The focus is not on disposition but helping the bereaved pet owners of all types and sizes, to mourn the losses and celebrate lives.
Alongside her business, Ms. Fry supports several dog and cat rescues in Omaha. Notably, Paws to Angels is a member of the International Cemetery, Crematory and Funeral Association (ICCFA), Pet Loss Professionals Alliance (PLPA), International Association of Pet Cemeteries and Crematories (IAPCC), Angie's List, and the Business Bureau (BBB). Ms. Fry attributes her success to the exceptional care that she provides to families and her unwavering dedication to her cause.
In light of her exceptional undertakings, Ms. Fry has accrued several accolades throughout her impressive career, including nearly 40 published articles on her services, seven news stories, two radio programs, and an honorable mention from the Keeping It Personal Award for Best in Personalization and Services by the International Cemetery, Crematory and Funeral Association in 2016. Her cat Cleya was honored with the Derek Flynn Golden Paw Award for working with and companioning grieving families by the International Cemetery, Crematory and Funeral Association in 2020.
