Originally intent on becoming a firefighter, Dr. Sarkos joined the rescue squad at just 16 years old. During the course of his experiences in this role, however, he cultivated an interest in medicine. After attaining a Bachelor of Arts in biology from LaSalle University in 1997, he went on to study biomedical science at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, from which he received a Master's degree. He then went on to complete his Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Sarkos also finished an internship and residency through the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and a fellowship in hand, wrist and microvascular surgery through the Training University of Connecticut's School of Medicine.
Drawing on his considerable expertise in hand and wrist surgery, carpel tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, scaphoid fractures of the wrist, distal radial fractures and more, Dr. Sarkos presently excels as an assistant orthopedic residency program director for Inspira Health Network, an attending faculty member at Rowan University Medical School and as an orthopedic hand and microvascular surgeon with Premier Orthopedic Associates of Southern New Jersey. Driven to remain aware of changes in the field, he aligns himself with the American Osteopathic Association and the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics.
Due to his vast breadth of knowledge, Dr. Sarkos has contributed to a number of publications, including a book chapter in "Scaphotrapezial-Trapezoidal Arthrodesis" (Arthritis of the Hand and Upper Extremity: A Master Skills Publication), AOAO Poster presentation: "Reconstruction of the Proximal Interphalangeal Collateral Ligament using Palmaris Longus Autograft to Treat Chronic Instability," AOAO Poster presentation: "Surgical Treatment of a Segmental tibia fracture using an Intramedullary nail and Five-Hole Plate with Uni-cortical Locking Screws." He also researched "Muscle Dysmorphia in Male Bodybuilders."
