PAHOA, HI, June 09, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Michael H. Quay has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Attributing more than two decades to his professional success, Mr. Quay is a licensed mental health counselor who joined Serenity Counseling Services in 2020. Working remotely via telehealth, he is a person-centered therapist who mainly provides cognitive-behavioral treatment services to adults and teens. Among his many interests, Mr. Quay is experienced in treating patients suffering from anxiety, depression and attention deficit disorder; and, among other areas of the field, rebellious adolescents and those struggling with marital issues. Headquartered in Aiea, Hawaii, Serenity Counseling Services is recognized as a private facility that offers comprehensive integrative care to patients in-person and online.
Prior to joining the staff at Serenity Counseling Services, Mr. Quay garnered expertise in several other private and public mental health settings. During his professional journey, he worked as a crisis intervention coordinator for a public mental health center in charge of emergency services, and he was responsible for a caseload of more than 30 adults suffering from various mental health challenges. Mr. Quay also earned the opportunity to work as a clinical coordinator for a geriatric day hospital treating those 65 and older suffering from anxiety and depression. Other noteworthy roles included an appointment as a school-based behavioral health therapist for several public schools throughout the Hawaii Department of Education. Taking a hiatus for a period of time to work in religious services, Mr. Quay also served as an associate pastor (children's ministry) for Mount Olive Ministries in Cleveland, Tennessee, in addition to participating in missionary work in the Philippines ministering to children.
The diversity that Mr. Quay experienced during his lifetime is what led him to his career in counseling. Having served four years in the U.S. Army before retiring as a captain in 1983, he was notably honorably discharged for depression. Grateful for his Christian faith and several mental health experts, he was able to fully recover and find solace in mentoring others.
Prior to embarking upon his professional journey, Mr. Quay received a Bachelor of Science in economics at Auburn University in 1979 and a Master of Science in rehabilitation counseling at Georgia State University in 1991. He subsequently achieved a Doctor of Ministry in ministry at Southwest Bible College & Seminary in 2004. Earning several certifications in his field during his tenure in counseling, Mr. Quay is presently a licensed mental health counselor in the state of Hawaii.
