Mr. Sagedy joined the Sullivan County Public School District in Sullivan County, Pennsylvania, as an elementary music teacher, band director and chorus director in 2021. Teaching general and instrumental music to students, he is passionate about his work and the students he has the opportunity to serve. Mr. Sagedy also finds satisfaction in helping students express themselves through music and perform at elevated levels.
Mr. Sagedy previously taught music at Bell Oaks Upper Elementary School and Bellmawr Elementary School in Bellmawr, New Jersey, from 2018 to 2021. While pursuing his college education, he garnered experience in various related roles, including as a Catholic campus ministry music director and a band and orchestra student assistant. Mr. Sagedy often found inspiration in his college band director who encouraged him to follow a similar path in music education.
Mr. Sagedy grew up in a family where music was an essential part of their lives. After high school, he was accepted to Elizabethtown College where he received a Bachelor of Music in music education and a Master of Music in instrumental conducting in 2018 and 2022, respectively.
To remain aware of developments affecting his field, Mr. Sagedy is a professional member of the National Association for Music Education and the National Society of Leadership and Success. He is also a member, former vice president and former treasurer of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association.
Mr. Sagedy notably secured a Mary G. Emenheiser Music Scholarship in 2015 and an Otis Kitchen Scholarship between 2016 and 2017 from the division of fine and performing arts at Elizabethtown College. In 2018, the college's department of education and division of fine and performing arts recognized Mr. Sagedy with the coveted Flavia Martz Baugher Memorial Teaching Award.
Looking toward the future, Mr. Sagedy aspires to continue to improve upon his school district's music program. Beyond his contributions as a teacher, he has been teaching privately as an instructor at the Guitar Center on a part-time basis since 2020. Mr. Sagedy has also been a music camp counselor at his alma mater, Elizabethtown College, since 2015.
