Leading an impressive career in his chosen field for many years, Mr. Wilson served as a musician, a composer and a recording, sound and lighting engineer, having spent most of his time working in San Diego and Indiana. Afforded many opportunities during his career, he notably played for numerous bands as a guitarist, including Imposing Stone, Myth, and It. Mr. Wilson was also a guitarist, sound engineer and chief engineer for several other bands and a sound and recording engineer for Sound Trax Plus. Additionally, he worked in Nashville as a recording engineer for the International Trombone Association, which is recognized as the largest nonprofit association of trombonists, and served in the same capacity for the Indiana University Conference Bureau, the International Trumpet Guild and the International Horn Society.
Mr. Wilson's portfolio of work included writing and composing several songs, including "Pen in Hand" and "You Can Do It" in 1983. He also wrote "Music," an award-winning song that was named as the Song of the Year in the U.S. in 1983. Notably, the song was played all day at a renowned science fair in San Diego, CA to over 1 million people because it was the first computer generated song in the world; it was composed on a Fairlight CMI music computer.
Long dedicated to lending his talent to the community, Mr. Wilson served as a sound engineer at Kirkfest in Bloomington, Indiana, in 1984. He also performed during a 14-hour event on July 4, 1984, in Ocean Beach, California, in front of over a million people.
Serving his country, Mr. Wilson spent four years in the U.S. Navy between 1972 and 1976 before being honorably discharged. He also studied at Indiana University for several years between 1976 and 1985. Well qualified in his field, Mr. Wilson received certification as a recording engineer in the state of Indiana.
