An accomplished professional with 30 years of expertise in project management, strategic planning and community outreach, Mrs. Farguson excels today as the co-owner, president and business administrator for Jacob Transition Safe House Inc., which was created to help young adults who have aged out of foster homes as well as those struggling with substance abuse. Alongside her primary work with the Safe House, she works as an elementary school teacher at Bridge Prep Academy. Since joining the aforementioned academy in 2019, Mrs. Farguson has maintained responsibility for lesson plan preparation and education for second grade students.
Earlier in her career, Mrs. Farguson gained valuable professional expertise with the Boys and Girls Club of Collier County and as a transit coordinator for St. Lucie County BOCC. Moreover, she was active as a mobility management facilitator for the Ann Storck Center, where she played an integral role in the planning, developing and implementation of a regional transportation project in Broward and Palm Beach Counties. In her work with St. Lucie County, Mrs. Farguson oversaw more than $25 million in multimodal transportation grants funded by local, state and federal governments.
An expert in her field, Mrs. Farguson earned a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration from Kean University, a master's degree in Public Policy Administration from Walden University and pending completion of a Doctor of Philosophy in Public Policy and Administration from Walden University. Additionally, she completed coursework in Urban and Regional Planning through Florida Atlantic University. Outside of her primary responsibilities, Mrs. Farguson is affiliated with Phi Alpha Alpha, the National Honor Society for Public Administration, the International Women's Leadership Association and the National Forum for Black Public Administrators.
Dedicated to her community, Mrs. Farguson has devoted herself to several local organizations, including the Trinity Community Church of Naples, a food pantry called Grace Place, the Children Services Network, Career Sources of Southwest Florida, the Youth Haven of Collier County and the Immokalee Chamber of Commerce. For her considerable achievements, she was honored with the America Public Transportation Association Scholarship in 2015. In a career that has been filled with highlights, she is incredibly proud of being an "agent of change" and encouraging others to do the same.
