Drawing on over three decades of expertise, Dr. Krizanac-Bengez specializes in research and medical science education. Prior to embarking on her professional journey, she pursued an education at the University of Zagreb, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science and a Doctor of Medicine in 1985 and, subsequently, a Master of Science in biomedicine and molecular biology in 1988. Dr. Krizanac-Bengez continued her academic efforts at the School of Medicine, University of Zagreb, earning a Doctor of Medical Science in 1992.
Dr. Krizanac-Bengez completed her postdoctoral fellowship in transplantation immunology at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle in 1996, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship in vascular physiology at Cleveland Clinic Foundation in 2002. As a commitment to her field, she has been active with several industry-related organizations, including the Nashville Health Care Council, the American Medical Informatics Association, the American College of Healthcare Executives, the American Heart Association, and the International Society of Neuroscience.
Dr. Krizanac-Bengez began her career working in a variety of roles at Rudjer Boskovic Institute in Zagreb, Croatia, including as a teaching and research assistant, a senior research associate, and an assistant professor from 1986 to 1999. Between 1999 and 2008, she garnered expertise as a research assistant professor at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, after which she advanced to the post of clinical research program coordinator for the pain management department at Cleveland Clinic from 2008 until 2011. She subsequently contributed to Chancellor University as an associate professor and a program chairperson of the health services management department from 2011 to 2013.
Since 2014, Dr. Krizanac-Bengez has found much success as an associate professor and health informatics program director for the School of Health and Professional Sciences at King University. In this capacity, she specializes in translational and clinical medical science, and is responsible for informatics, program and course revision and development, part-time faculty recruitment, and medical research and education.
In her career related endeavors, Dr. Krizanac-Bengez has published more than 25 peer-reviewed manuscripts, authored and co-authored five grants, written several book chapters and reviews, and presented over 50 abstracts at scientific meetings. Well regarded for her contributions to the field, she has received multiple awards, including the International Science and Technology Collaboration Award, and inclusions with Who's Who in the World and Who's Who in America, to only name a few.
