An expert in teaching science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), Ms. Moore has been a dedicated teacher for several years. Prior to embarking on her professional journey, she earned a Bachelor of Science in education with a concentration in secondary education biology from California University of Pennsylvania in 2014 and a Master of Education in curriculum and instruction from the University of Phoenix in 2018. Well qualified in her profession, she is certified in instructional biology from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. She began her teaching career as a science teacher in 2014 and became a STEM instructional support specialist in 2017. That same year, she also became a STEM curriculum project coordinator and continued in that position until 2020.
Since 2020, Ms. Moore has been a curriculum specialist. In this capacity, she acts as a point of contact in STEM subjects for the Pennsylvania Department of Education and works with them to share initiatives to deliver and improve STEM education. She plans and facilitates topics for professional development opportunities for educators in all areas of STEM, science, computer science, equity and educational technology integration. She assists schools in Pennsylvania with writing, developing and coordinating their science curricula.
In addition to her present role, Ms. Moore leads a variety of committees such as the Southwestern Pennsylvania Aquaponics Collaborative and the STEM Toolkit Workgroup. She is also the program manager for the Science Matters STEM program, a K–8 inquiry-based science kit program that incorporates mindful connections for teachers who want to integrate science into the classroom. To remain aware of developments affecting her field, she is a member of the National Science Teachers Association and the Remake Learning network.
In recognition for her excellence in STEM education, Ms. Moore was honored with two Presidential Scholar Awards in 2013 and 2014. She also received an Outstanding Achievement in Science Education Award in 2014.
