As a physician, he holds exceptional academic credentials in his field. Prior to embarking upon his professional journey, he earned a Bachelor of Science in cellular and molecular biology from the Medical School at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, graduating with honors in 1992. He completed his Doctor of Medicine from the same institution in 1996 and then advanced to a residency in internal medicine at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in 1999. He accepted a postdoctoral fellowship at Burgher Molecular Cardiology in 2004 and subsequently underwent a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at Baylor College of Medicine at the Texas Medical Center in 2006, and an additional fellowship in clinical cardiac electrophysiology at the same institution in 2008.
Dr. Sidhu has earned recognition for his clinical, academic and scholarly successes, including the Outstanding Basic Research Award from Baylor College of Medicine in 2004. While at Baylor, he developed a model for Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome, which replicates a human disease in a mouse. This accomplishment stands as a great source of pride and ultimately prompted Dr. Sidhu's interest in clinical cardiac electrophysiology.
Specific board licensures and certifications support Dr. Sidhu's reputation for excellence in various medical communities. He is licensed to practice medicine in California, New York, Michigan, Massachusetts, Ohio and Texas. Dr. Sidhu is also board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and clinical cardiac electrophysiology.
Dr. Sidhu actively pursues research and communicates findings via scholarly writing. As both an independent writer and a co-author, he has contributed many journal articles and book chapters. One prominent journal article is "An alleged poisoning with methanol and formaldehyde," published in Veterinary and Human Toxicology, a peer-reviewed journal, in 1999.
Dr. Sidhu is proud to have participated in establishing the first cardiac electrophysiology laboratory in Victoria, Texas, which serves patients in a rural area by reducing the travel time spent to receive care. He is also responsible for the first wireless micro pacemaker implant procedure in Victoria, and in 2022 he will initiate the first Watchman heart procedure in the county. Ultimately, Dr. Sidhu seeks to advance high-technology care in a rural setting by providing a full-service electrophysiology center for patients local to the Victoria region. His goal is to reduce or eliminate the strain and inconvenience of those in need.
