An expert in music education, Ms. Mincey has been a dedicated teacher for more than 35 years. Prior to embarking upon her professional journey, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in vocal performance with a minor in piano from Brenau University in 1968. Well qualified in her field, she is a national board-certified teacher. She earned her master's degree, Integrating the Arts into the Curriculum, from Lesley University out of Cambridge. Following her academic accomplishments, she began her career as a teacher for K–12 students. To gain further expertise in her field, she subsequently attained a master's degree from Lesley University in 2006.
Over the course of her career, Ms. Mincey has taught in several environments, including private, parochial and public schools, in addition to a school located on a U.S Air Force base. She retired from Skyview Elementary but continued teaching privately in her studio, Mincey's Musicians. Her expertise is in piano and voice teaching. Additionally, as part of her career, her work was published in a professional music journal. She is also a member and past president of the Morning Music Club, and current president of the Macon Music Teachers Association. Although she has been retired from teaching since 2012, she teaches piano and voice privately to 21 students.
Originally inspired by her mother's passion for music, Ms. Mincey now integrates her faith into her music, continually staying involved with her church choir. Looking toward the future, she plans to continue teaching students for as long as possible, despite her retirement. Her current inspiration is a friend named Susan McDuffie, who is 91 and still actively teaching.
