Prior to embarking on his professional journey, he pursued an education at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Geis College of Business, from which he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1986. Mr. Reinsma has been additionally affiliated with several industry-related organizations, including the Rocky Mountain Mining Institute, Coal Association of Canada, and the Prospectors, and the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada.
Since 1986, Mr. Reinsma has built a prolific career serving in a variety of leadership roles at Caterpillar Inc. He began his career as a western region sales representative from 1986-1994, before becoming the commercial manager of Caterpillar's first Autonomous Mining Truck Program in 1995. In 1998, he was appointed western region mining sales manager before becoming the Brisbane, Australia District Manager in 2000 and the Jakarta, Indonesia District Manager from 2002-2005. From 2005 to 2009, he worked as a global mining product support manager and a global account manager before advancing to the post of a regional mining manager in Australasia, Canada, and most recently the United States. In this capacity Mr. Reinsma is responsible for supporting mining operations in region, corporate strategies for mining space technology, mining machine sales and support, mining customer and dealer relationships, factory management and product services.
Long dedicated to civic advocacy, Mr. Reinsma has volunteered his time and service to Habitat for Humanity and Junior Achievement in the United States. Among his professional accomplishments, he is incredibly proud of his ability to improve operations and efficiency for customers around the world through his expertise of Caterpillar products. He attributes much of his success to his father, whose occupation as a research engineer at Caterpillar Inc., enriched his knowledge of the company and inspired him to pursue his vocational path. Looking forward to the future, Mr. Reinsma aspires to significantly increase the usage of Caterpillar's Autonomous Haulage Systems, reduce greenhouse gas emissions by mining base metals such as nickel, silver, gold and cooper, and hopes to regain back the industry autonomy that was impacted by the Russian-Ukranian conflict.
