With over 20 years of experience in her field, Ms. Teranishi-Hashimoto has established herself as a prominent figure in patient care and rehabilitation. As part of her extensive career, she currently fulfills the role of therapy director at the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific, commonly referred to as REHAB, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Ms. Teranishi-Hashimoto's time at REHAB began in 2002 as a physical therapist, assisting with outpatient pediatrics, orthopedics, neurology and aquatics. She subsequently joined Kaiser Permanente in Hawaii in 2003, continuing as a physical therapist and primarily handling outpatient specialty programs focused on pediatrics, women's health, continence and lymphedema. Rejoining REHAB in 2010, Ms. Teranishi-Hashimoto operated as a program director between 2010 and 2015 and an assistant manager between 2015 and 2019, whereupon she ultimately achieved her current position as therapy director.
Ms. Teranishi-Hashimoto's performance in the field was born from her impressive academic journey, which began at Purdue University. During her time there, she earned dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in 1997—one in movement and sports science, and another in exercise and fitness—and a Master of Science in exercise physiology in 2000. Shortly thereafter, she received a Master of Science in physical therapy in 2002 and a Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2003, both from Des Moines University. In addition to her educational credentials, Ms. Teranishi-Hashimoto holds numerous certifications in her profession, having been recognized by Oncology Rehab Partners LLC, the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Physical Therapy Association.

For her tireless commitment, she was recognized as a Hawaii Healthcare Hero in 2017 by the Healthcare Association of Hawaii.
Dr. Teranishi-Hashimoto attributes much of her success to her sincere passion in providing patients with quality care. She is proud to have helped establish the first cancer rehabilitation program in Hawaii on the island of Oahu, and hopes to be able to expand the practice to the rest of the Hawaiian Islands and across the Pacific Rim in the years to come.
