UPPER MARLBORO, MD, June 21, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Carine M. Uwaifo has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Ms. Uwaifo is a registered nurse who accepted a position with University of Maryland Capital Region Health in 2020. Working in the medical-surgical unit, she cares for trauma and orthopedic patients both in preparation for and after surgery. She also administers pain medications, provides nutritional support, and looks after those with drains, ventilators and tracheostomies. Among other duties, she was selected to serve as union delegate on behalf of the Service Employees International Union.
Adding to her expertise, Ms. Uwaifo is a former infection control nurse who was employed by the Jennifer Road Detention Center and Ordinance Road Corrections Center in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. She was also a registered nurse for Genesis HealthCare, a home health aide for Premium Select, and a charge nurse/infection control nurse for Wellpath.
A native of Africa, Ms. Uwaifo originally received a home aide license in Cameroon, but was unable to secure a position right away. To pass the time, she began providing first aid in remote areas that did not have a hospital or clinic nearby. Prior to relocating to the United States, she had the opportunity to teach science as a primary school teacher in Thailand during 2010.
Ms. Uwaifo attributes her success to her desire to continue to grow and evolve in her field. Serving as a voice for her patients, she aspires to land a leadership role at a reputable organization where she can better serve the nurses. Ms. Uwaifo believes that, if given the opportunity, she can address and make small changes that can result in significant improvements to health care workers' daily routines.
To achieve her professional goals, Ms. Uwaifo originally attended Shoreline Nursing School in Limbe, Cameroon. Licensed as a practical nurse in 2008, she completed coursework at Radians College in 2016, and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Grand Canyon University in 2019. Ms. Uwaifo is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Science in nursing leadership in health care systems at Grand Canyon University.
Ms. Uwaifo is a member of the Nurse Practice Council, the American Nursing Association, and the Maryland Nurses Association. All of these memberships have been instrumental in her career. Recognized for her hard work and dedication, Ms. Uwaifo received a DAISY Award from The DAISY Foundation in 2021. The organization was founded to show gratitude to leaders in the nursing field who have gone above and beyond. She recalls the hard work she put in during the COVID-19 pandemic, and says there were days where she would come home and couldn't hug her family.
