Prior to his recruitment at Otsuka Pharmaceutical, Dr. Sen thrived as an executive director of numerous divisions within Merck & Co., Inc. over the course of two decades. During this period, he notably spearheaded the global launch of many Merck products and conducted more than 100 observational studies across multiple geographic locations. Dr. Sen and his team's work also repeatedly resulted in earning positive recommendations for Merck drugs and vaccines by numerous health technology and regulatory bodies including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Institute of Clinical Excellence, and IQWIG-Institute for Quality and Efficiency. They also produced well designed innovative developmental programs for drugs and vaccines in several therapeutic areas, such as oncology, neuroscience, immunology, pulmonology, infectious disease and endocrinology.
Throughout the course of his career, he has contributed to more than 200 scientific publications and abstracts. He serves as an editorial board member and reviewer for a number of international medical journals. Several of his works won international acclaim including the best paper award in 2009 at the First Scientific Meeting of the Asian Federation of Osteoporosis Societies, and in 2003 at the third International Latin American Congress of Osteoperosis of the International Osteoperosis Foundation. Alongside his responsibilities as vice president, Dr. Sen currently serves as an adjunct professor and advisory board member for the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy at Rutgers University.
