OSLO, NORWAY, June 22, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Dr. Liv Mjelde with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Mjelde celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process. As a professor of Vocational Pedagogy, she built up various courses and mentored master and doctoral level students with technical/vocational backgrounds. They have a double practice background, trained both in their trades and as teachers, important in Vocational Pedagogy.

Liv Mjelde is Professor Emeritus aligned with the Centre for Senior Staff at Oslo Metropolitan University, in Oslo, Norway, an institution she has been part of since 1990. She is a sociologist by training and specialist in sociology of education. She is an expert in studying the changing relations between vocational and general education from several perspectives: psychological (forms of knowledge), didactic (workshop and classroom learning) and sociological (division of manual and mental labour) perspectives. One of her research fields is the gender divisions as they can be observed directly in vocational education and working life in Norway and its relation to movements on the manual labour market and in family ideology.

Having come of age amidst destitution, Dr. Mjelde was encouraged to pursue an education. She began studying political science and history but felt compelled to learn more about the surrounding world, and quickly realized that one cannot truly understand history without understanding sociology. Likewise, one cannot thoroughly understand the complexity of sociology without knowing how it has developed from the 1800 until today. One problematic in all sciences is "Ways of Seeing" depending on our own learning and memory, a point of departure in all of Dr. Mjelde's work. We can talk about "a situated gaze". Dr. Mjelde considers education a medium that enables her to encourage and help others grow.

As an alumnus of the University of Oslo, Dr. Mjelde received a Bachelor of Art in political science, history and sociology in 1967 and a Master of Art in sociology in 1975. She later attained a Doctor of Philosophy in sociology at the University of Eastern Finland in 1993. Eminently qualified in her field, Dr. Mjelde became certified as a teacher in 1981. She has a certificate in "Course de langue et civilization francais" from Sorbonne University, Paris, France in 1959.

Liv Mjelde has been conducting research for many years at both the national and international level. Besides a wide network with researchers in European countries, Liv Mjelde has also an extensive network of researchers in North and South America, Australia and Africa. She has been a visiting scholar at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), Toronto, Canada; at the University of Tirana, Albania; at the Sami University College, Kautokeino, Norway; at Inari Adult Education College, Inari, Finland; the Institute of Adult Education, University of Adelaide, Adelaide, Australia and at Kyambogo University, Kampala, Uganda. She has been part of the Network of Vocational of Education and Training: "VET and Culture" since it's initiation in Finland in 1993 and she has initiated several international conferences in the field of vocational education in Norway.

Dr. Mjelde has teaching experiences from all levels of the educational system. She worked as a counsellor in the biggest vocational school in Scandinavia for 18 years. She has been working for more than 20 years on developing a democratic and cooperative teaching model in the Master programme for vocational teachers at Oslo Metropolitan University. Evaluation of Leonardo da Vinci programmes for the European Union Commission has also been part of her experience. She has been the Norwegian project leader for Oslo Met in a cooperative project with Kyambogo University in Kampala, Uganda and Upper Nile University, Malakal, Southern Sudan from 2007 till 2011. The aim of the project was to build up a master's degree in Vocational Pedagogy at Kyambogo University with students from Uganda, Southern Sudan, and Norway.
