An accomplished engineer who has contributed more than 50 years of expertise to the industry, Mr. Pate founded John Pate and Associates in Rogers, Arkansas, as president in 2000. Among his many accomplishments during his career, he spent 35 years as a contractor for Walmart Inc. designing and building world-class computer rooms. Prior to establishing his firm, Mr. Pate was the president of Environmental Enterprises Inc. in Little Rock, Arkansas, from 1973 to 2000 and an engineer for Trane Company in La Crosse, Wisconsin, between 1966 and 1973. He also served as a member of the principal's advisory council for Liebert Corporation, now Vertiv Group Corporation, in Columbus, Ohio, and as a contract trainer of energy auditors for the Arkansas Energy Office. Well respected in his industry, Mr. Pate's key to success has been his attention to detail and his professional integrity.
Outside of his primary career endeavors, Mr. Pate is a deacon at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Rogers. In addition to delivering homilies once per month at his parish, he frequently participates in public speaking before various religious organizations and serves as a hospice chaplain at Circle of Life Hospice, a nonprofit organization that serves Benton, Washington, Carroll and Madison counties. Additionally, Mr. Pate is an avid writer who contributes to Homilystarters.com, an online resource for clergy members, writes spiritual meditations and has notably published an autobiography, titled "Blest: From Preacher's Kid to Catholic Deacon."
During an earlier stage of his career, Mr. Pate was a rock and roll drummer for various groups, including the Carl Perkins band. Mr. Pate was also honored to have the opportunity to play with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra.
On behalf of his local community, Mr. Pate is a member of the Arkansas State Energy Task Force, the Christian Businessmen's Committee and the Little Rock Engineers Club, and is active on the Little Rock Chamber of Commerce's industrial development committee. He formerly served as the commissioner of the Benton County Planning Board, as a member of the board of directors for the Arkansas Engineering Foundation and on the advisory board for the George W. Donaghey College of Engineering and Information Technology at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Additionally, Mr. Pate served as the general chair of the Governor's Prayer Breakfast.
Prior to embarking upon his professional journey, Mr. Pate received a Bachelor of Science in liberal arts at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1965 and a Bachelor of Science in engineering at Vanderbilt University in Nashville in 1966. Mr. Pate also received board certification as a clinical chaplain, which is nationally recognized, and became an ordained deacon of the Roman Catholic Church.
Among numerous professional memberships, Mr. Pate is recognized as a life member, past president and national membership committee member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). Mr. Pate is also a member and former chairperson of the Arkansas Council of Engineering and Related Societies, a member of the Association of Energy Engineers, the Construction Specifications Institute, the Electrical League of Arkansas and the Data Processing Managers Association, now known as the Association of Information Technology Professionals.
To commemorate his accomplishments, Mr. Pate was honored by the ASHRAE with an Ernest N. Pettit Award and a Lincoln Bullion Award and with induction into the organization's Arkansas chapter Hall of Fame. Mr. Pate was also recognized by having his drum set displayed in the Arkansas Rock 'N' Roll Highway 67 Museum in Newport, Arkansas.
