Ms. Jones was inspired to enter a career in education after a childhood of becoming involved in various fraternal groups, such as the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, which provided her with vital experience in leadership, organization and working with others. After serving as a state officer as a year, she decided that moving into education would be the next natural step in her professional path. Beginning in 2003, she was active as a principal and program manager of special education for the Santa Clara County Office of Education, with which she was notably selected to be the co-chair of the management team from 2005 to 2007. Ms. Jones retired from her work as a school district administrator in 2014.
In order to remain aware of developments in her field, Ms. Jones maintained her affiliation with a number of professional organizations. Outside of her professional endeavors, she has been involved with the Order of the Eastern Star, where she was a matron with the Clear Lake chapter in 1995 and a deputy grand matron in 1999.
