Drawing on over three decades of expertise, Ms. Grossman has found much success as a singer and a music educator. Prior to embarking on her professional journey, she pursued an education at the University of Minnesota, Duluth where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education and a Master of Science degree in Teaching Music from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 1979. Ms. Grossman is a certified kindergarten to 12th grade teacher, and has been an active member of several industry-related organizations, including the National Swedish Male Choruses Convention, where she served as an organist, the Master Singers of Milwaukee, the Milwaukee Symphony Chorus, and Sigma Alpha Iota Fraternity. She is also affiliated with the Chicago Choral Society, a professional-level ensemble of singers who played in several venues in London and Sweden.
For over 30 years, Ms. Grossman has built a prolific career as a private voice instructor, a singer and a vocal and general music educator for the Wisconsin Public Schools system. In this capacity, she is responsible for teaching general music to all grade levels, as well as instructing ensembles. Well regarded for her contributions to the field, Ms. Grossman has received multiple awards, including the Sword of Honor award from the Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity and several music accolades from Wisconsin Public Schools.
Throughout the course of her career, Ms. Grossman is most proud to have performed for Leonard Bernstein at the Bernstein Festival in Milwaukee, and to have performed at the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts as a member of the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music Vocal Arts Consort under national conductor Margaret Hawkins.
Long dedicated to humanitarian advocacy, she serves on the board of directors in Wisconsin for Project Concern and Interfaith of St. Francis and Cudahy, and as a member of her local church choir. She attributes much of her success to her upbringing, and to the mentorship of her father, noted choral director and educator Dr. Robert C. Ekstrom, who inspired her to pursue her vocational path. Looking toward the future, Ms. Grossman aspires to continue fulfilling her love and passion for music as a singer and a music educator for as long as possible.
