She established Wilmes Fine Art Studio in 1965 and has also worked with an art gallery in St. Charles, garnering acclaim for her artwork and drawing upon her self-taught expertise. Committed to teaching her students, she is known for her forthright and effective instructional style. Ms. Wilmes has notably seen her work featured in such publications as Streetscape Magazine, St. Charles Magazine, the St. Louis Post Dispatch and the St. Charles Journal.
Ms. Wilmes earned a diploma from Fort Zumwalt High School in 1965. Having developed an interest in art and creative expression at a young age, she attributes her current success to the support of her family and loved ones. A celebrated muralist, she notably created a piece for the St. Charles County Veterans Museum, honoring women in the military with her work. Likewise, her piece, "The Five Wars," explores significant events pertaining to World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the Iraq-Afghanistan War. Ms. Wilmes's considerable body of work has been featured in numerous galleries and exhibits in Illinois, Missouri and the state of Washington.

The co-founder of the O'Fallon Artists Guild and the Augusta Haus Gallery, Ms. Wilmes is a signature member of the Missouri Watercolor Society, Illinois Watercolor Society, St. Louis Artists Guild, and a member of The National Watercolor Society, The St. Charles County Arts Council and the Crossroads Arts Council.
Committed to daily painting and demonstrating an attentive work ethic, Ms. Wilmes plans to continue developing her artistic skill set. Supplementing her expertise in professional murals, many of her artistic specialties include realism, impressionism, floral watercolors and transportation art.
