Prior to embarking on her professional journey, she pursued an education at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in human development and family studies in 2013, and subsequently attained her paralegal certification from the Loyola University Chicago in 2014. She continued her academic efforts at the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law, earning a Juris Doctor in 2017. As a commitment to her field, Ms. Simon has been certified in special victim counseling by the United States military, and has been active as a member with the Cook County Bar Association.
Ms. Simon began her career working as a legal intern and a judicial extern for various law firms, including the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the Illinois Supreme Court, during which time she also served as a law clerk at the Kelly and Ignoffo Law Group and the Cook County Public Defender's Office from 2015 to 2016. Between 2016 and 2020, she garnered expertise as a law clerk at the City of Chicago Law Department, a deputy state public defender at the Colorado State Public Defender's office, a judicial law clerk at the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County and as an assistant attorney at the Cook County Public Defender's office. Since 2020, she has found much success as a judge advocate in the United States Army. In this capacity, Ms. Simon is responsible for reviewing contracts, investigations involving damaged property, advising soldiers on divorce matters, child support, car leases and purchases, as well as counseling victims of sexual assault, harassment, abuse and domestic violence.
Well regarded for her contributions to the field, Ms. Simon was honored for her services as the chief of her local Income Tax Center, where she assisted the center and its employees with pro bono legal aid for their soldiers, civilians and retirees. She attributes much of her success to her parents, who instilled in her the importance of education and supported her in all of her endeavors. Looking toward the future, Ms. Simon aspires to expand the scope of her career in the military by advancing to the rank of a major, and hopes to continue progressing in the legal field by specializing in national security law.
