Driven by a passion for teaching and a desire to help those dealing with substance abuse issues, Ms. Cox earned a Bachelor of Science in elementary education while playing women's basketball and softball from Taylor University. She subsequently joined the faculty staff of Columbus City Schools, where she worked for eight years while furthering her own education by completing graduate studies at The Ohio State University and University of Dayton which added to her future experience as a therapist. In the ensuing years, she gained valuable expertise as an educator, advocate for change, therapist, and case manager with such institutions as My Choice Community Development Inc., Behavioral Health of the Palm Beaches, New Season, The Palm Beach Institute, Best Life Counseling, Allure Detox, and Progressus Therapy.
Throughout the course of her career, Ms. Cox has endeavored to build upon her expertise, becoming a licensed professional clinical counselor and mental health counselor, and receiving a master's degree in mental health counseling from Capella University – a career highlight. Supported by her vast breadth of knowledge and professional experiences, she worked as an associate practicing clinical counselor for Intrepid Detox Residential and Life on Life's Terms before joining Breathe Life Healing Centers as a licensed professional clinical counselor in 2021. Since obtaining this role, Ms. Cox has overseen relapse prevention planning, conducted therapy sessions for individuals and families and established treatment plans for patients.
Due to the ever-evolving field of mental health, Ms. Cox aims to remain abreast of industry changes via her affiliations with the American Counseling Association, where she is a member of the multicultural and diversity committee, the American Mental Health Counselors Association, the Florida Mental Health Counselors Association, and Chi Epsilon Chi. In accounting for her success, she credits her faith, determination, sense of humor and keen ability to listen to the needs of others. Looking forward, Ms. Cox intends to start her own private practice, which will allow her to utilize broader therapy methods, including the arts, gardening and equine therapy.
