An expert pianist, Miss Chung has performed music for more than 35 years. Originally hailing from Korea, she started taking piano lessons when she was four years old and showed a great talent for music throughout the course of her youth. To wit, she was awarded first prize in several competitions in Korea, including the Honam, Pullma, Pung Moon and the Competition for Young Pianists. Miss Chung was also chosen to be part of a music recording when she was 12 years old.
To prepare for her creative endeavors, Miss Chung entered the preparatory division at the Juilliard School after moving to the United States in 1975. She subsequently earned a Bachelor of Music in 1982 and a Master of Music in 1983, having benefited richly from the tutelage of Jane Carlson and William Masselos, as well as Pierre Sancan of France. While pursuing her education, Miss Chung continued performing at recitals. Following her academic accomplishments, she became the director and pianist for Elite Piano Academy.
Miss Chung has performed in concerto performances and as a solo pianist, attending and giving concerts around the world in France, South Korea and the United States. In 2008, Miss Chung recorded 35 complete Beethoven Piano Sonatas and was noted as the first female pianist in the world to have done so. She performed with the Russian National Orchestra in Moscow. She also performed with Symphony Pro Musica and gave concert performances with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra at the Sejong Cultural Center and the National Orchestra at the Seoul National Theatre. She also lent her expertise to performing at a benefit concert for a Korean school in New England.
