HALLANDALE BEACH, FL, July 01, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bernard Gutman has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Well regarded for his longstanding experience in the realm of free enterprise, Mr. Gutman distinguished himself across the course of more than six decades in his chosen field, having created numerous successful companies, which he then took public. Attributing much of his success to "street smarts," Mr. Gutman began his journey shining shoes on the streets of New York and joined the United States Army at the age of 18 during World War II. After concluding his service, he cultivated a propensity for personal initiative and sold storm windows at a substantially reduced price against the competition, securing a handsome profit for himself and beginning the first of many entrepreneurial endeavors.
Mr. Gutman took on his first role in 1955, as the head of the Gutman Consulting Company, which provided financial and marketing services on behalf of various clients. From 1955 to 1978, Mr. Gutman served as the chairman of the Delco Corporation, a publicly held corporation involved in the home improvement industry. Among his accomplishments during this period, he led a retail seminar for Sears, Roebuck and Co. at the age of 27 and taught his sales techniques to thousands of prospective salesmen. Additionally, he found further success as the founder, president and chairman of the board of directors for the National Vitamin Corporation, which marketed and distributed vitamins to consumers throughout the United States.
Concurrent with his other ventures, Mr. Gutman established Products & Patents, Inc., which became a publicly held company in 1981. Several years later, he went on to found Phase Out of America, Inc., whose premier product, PhaseOut, helped customers wean themselves off the deleterious habit of smoking and saved thousands of lives around the world. Due to his visionary accomplishments in this regard, Mr. Gutman was heralded by CancerCare, a leading national organization dedicated to providing support services on behalf of those affected by cancer, with a banquet in his honor, which was named the "Diamonds and Denim Ball." In addition, he was endorsed by Bank of America and Prudential Life. CancerCare also bestowed upon him the Corporate Leadership Award in 1996.
Outside of his primary career pursuits, Mr. Gutman initially earned distinction as a dancing teacher throughout the course of his youth, having earned the sobriquet "king of the mambo." During this time, he provided dance lessons at Grossinger's Catskill Resort Hotel and later traveled to Miami, where he helped create the "triple mambo," which would later come to be known as the "cha-cha-cha." He was also the first person to teach the dance in the United States. Years later, during the 1980s, Mr. Gutman served as the president of the landmark committee of the National Historical Society.
Though he is now largely retired, Mr. Gutman remains committed to living by his personal motto, "Live in the moment." Looking toward the future, he hopes to spend more time with his friends and family and bequeath his prosperity to his children and grandchildren.
